    Scope of Position:

    The Applications Engineer/Project Manager (AE/PM) shall provide the primary technical support for the sales & marketing team, shall be responsible for managing the technical aspects of the sales process.  Working with the Sales Team, the AE/PM will provide technical solutions for Powin Energy product offerings and project proposals.

    The AE/PM must have the ability to perform conceptual design, feasibility & financial (budgeting) analysis, basic layout and cost estimating of grid-scale and commercial/industrial energy storage systems and microgrid solutions.  Having technical experience with a business-oriented mindset will make a successful candidate.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify value advantages of different products and system design approaches
    • Identify and outline the requirements of customer RFP/RFO’s
    • Write proposals and responses to RFP/RFO’s
    • Design and create high-level as well as detailed system design drawings, layouts, schematics
    • Specify appropriate system components, calculate component ratings and quantities, and create detailed bills-of-material for material and labor cost estimates
    • Develop technical manuals for system installation and operation.
    • Develop O&M structure/process (e.g., estimate for customer O&M plans, standard & extended warranties).
    • Understand regulatory requirements specific to geographic locations, individual utilities and governing agencies
    • Interface with vendors to understand the form, fit and function of their products and services; and determine which products are best suited for an application or project
    • Request quotes for vendor products and services and maintain a comparative database of manufacturer’s pricing
    • Maintain database of vendor technical information
    • Interface with engineering team to determine the most effective solutions to meet customer RFP requirements
    • Provide technical support when handing projects off to engineering and operations teams
    • Travel is necessary for this position.
    • Assist sales team to create customer presentations
    • Assist sales team to develop pricing models for proposals
    • Support sales and commercial team to deliver company product and service presentations to prospective customers and clients

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS in Electrical Engineering
    • Strong understanding of utility generation project development process
    • Able to read and understand system schematics, single-line drawings, mechanical elevation, and building layout drawings
    • Strong written and oral skills, must be a proven and competent English writer, able to create grammatically correct and properly structured English proposal documents.
    • Competent with ACAD or equivalent drafting tools
    • Competent with MS Office products (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Projects, Outlook, etc.) as well as graphical design tools (ACAD, Paint, Illustrator, etc.)
    • Understanding of UL, IEEE, and NEC standards
    • Knowledgeable in utility systems and interconnection requirements for electric generators, medium-voltage system design and construction background is desirable
    • Passion for innovation, ability to adapt to fasting changing market demands, working independently and as a team member
    • Willingness to take ownership and produce results
    • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience with the energy storage and renewable energy markets, projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, etc.)
    • Advanced engineering degree
    • 5+ years of experience with energy storage systems
    • Experience with transmission and distribution infrastructures
    • Experience with the installation of large generation systems
    • Knowledge of high-power generator functional requirements (FERC, NERC, PREPA, etc.)

We are looking for a Software Team Manager to lead a team of R&D software engineers and programmers in our China R&D Engineering Department. This position includes both management and hands on development.

    Major Job Functions:

    1. Software design working with real time embedded systems.
    2. Software team management, which includes:
      1. Implementing a formal software development process (Agile and Waterfall).
      2. Own software architecture and provide technical direction to software team.
      3. Facilitate creation of design documentation and track implementation.
      4. Delegate programming responsibilities to other software team members as appropriate and supervise software team members’ work.
    3. Inform senior management on a regular basis of the status of assigned projects and activities.
    4. Follow company’s standards and policies.

    Education & Experience:

    • Provide onsite leadership for Powin Energy projects, including all safety programs, contractor management, construction scope invoice approval, emergency response, quality control, onsite meeting leadership, delivery logistics and customer management

    • Manage contractors onsite for quality electrical, civil, mechanical and metering/communications scope execution

    • Experience commissioning electronics, metering or power generation equipment required
    • Exemplary record of onsite conflict resolution
    • >4 years experience as customer onsite point of contact for at least one major discipline

    Desirable Skills & Experience

    • Extensive power electronics experience highly preferred
    • Power generation and substation experience preferred
    • Demonstrated experience building a team of electricians and technician highly preferred
    • Construction Management Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Extensive experience (>10 years) of managing the construction of utility scale and distributed energy projects preferred.

    • Experience in designing and developing distributed energy projects (≤2 MW) both as a manager and as a practitioner in California, Texas, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York or New Jersey.
    • Expert level knowledge of programs, regulations and incentives in the primary utility and AHJ territories.
    • Comfortable with a diverse suite of software platforms and control protocols for electrical infrastructure.

    Desirable Skills & Experience

    • Professional Engineering License-Electrical Engineering is preferred
    • Experience specifically in California, Texas, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey is preferred.
    • Experience with in front of the meter, behind the meter energy and microgrid infrastructure is preferred.
    • AutoCad experience is preferred.
    • Knowledgeable in utility systems and interconnection requirements for electric generators, medium-voltage system design and construction background is desirable
